Sides

War of the roses;
Layed out on the battlefield,
Love layed bare,
Spread eagle, castrated,
Harassed into submission,
Eyes fixated on the sun.
Blinded.

War of the roses;
Words,spite -
The ammunition, the language,
The currency.

War of the roses;
Strewn across the battlefield
Decapitated red roses -
Stems and buds-
Wilted and Fresh-
Testaments of a lengthily engagement.

War for the roses;
Love perishes between enemy lines.
Never taken prisoner.
Shot down in its prime.
At the eve of self-realisation,
Self-determination,
Fruition,
Forever stunted.
All because we took to our sides.
