Goose and Gander stuff: an essay on gender equality specific to text

Khumalo on equality The jester summersaults into the palace commons to entertain the young maidens – just before the Kings feast – he croons and jests about a handsome prince who faces danger, a virginal princess-bride who awaits her rescue and a strong-willed queen who stands by and counsels her king. Later, the same jester entertains the king and his court with epic tales of bravery and strength. It seems he neglects to find a balance between the two genres; it is demand that dictates his content and thus dictating the mood and effect his content will bring about. The example of the jester and the court is very similar to the modern case of print media, digital media and us, the audience. The media will produce content that they believe the public demand when in reality media offers us what raises the profit margin; the media provides a form of escapisms   that undoubtedly plays a role in consumerism. Its all Greek to me: An essay written under duress

Khumalo on Plato The works of a Greek man born more than two-thousand years ago influenced our the arts, politics, social arenas and literature of today. This man was influenced by another – his mentor Socrates – on whose ideals and theories he based his own . The Republic is a collection of dialogues between Plato, through, Socrates, Cephalus, Polemarchus, Thrasymachus, Glaucon and Adeimantus on subjects such as the education of children, guardians and rulers, the equality of women, justice and injustice and the soul and its immortality. This essay will discuss five of the most important arguments that Plato offers in the Republic that I consider to be relevant to our world and will be presented in order of importance, wherein I will give reasons as to why those ideas are important for Plato in making his argument that justice is better than injustice and why these ideas are relevant in this day and age. I will do so by firstly stating each idea or theory, secondly provin...

TOYA

TOYA There are very few people in this country who have yet to hear "pump it on" , even less people know of the eccentric Ms. Buthelezi who goes by the stage name, "Toya Delazy" , the head strong songbird is the epitome of new-age pop that has some obvious hip-hop roots in terms of her styling and some of her melodies , thus making her a brand that is viable to a varied and vast market. The first time I heard her single I was watching a nondescript music show on a channel that I will never remember, when suddenly their theme song rang out and it was Toya telling me to pump it on, the following week while channel hopping I ( accidentally) came across the same show where they had her as a special guest. There I was, watching a 'uniquely' dressed individual play the piano and sing , I was bowled over with excitement ; not many of our contemporary artists show off their capabilities or musical performance range in terms of what they can do . Since the day...
